December home sales were down across most of the Metropolitan Indianapolis area for the month of December. Below are the numbers for West Indianapolis, including Wayne and Pike Townships, Speedway, Brownsburg, Avon and Plainfield.
What exactly does all this data mean. It is a buyer’s market. If you are searching for a new home in the Indianapolis area, you have a wide range of available properties to choose from. This time of year, in shopping centers all around the city, I see people struggling to get their shopping done within the time frame of the attention span of their children. Not an easy task. Children don’t like shopping, unless you are spending your time in the toy aisle buying them everything they want. The problem is, they want everything. And don’t try to take them to a store with tiny aisles and no carts, or a store with the perfect collectable for Aunt Mildred. You may end up buying more collectibles than you bargained for.
Don’t get me wrong – I love children. I just remember well the trials of any shopping event with four children, all vying for their favorite toy, cereal, candy, snack. You name it, they wanted it, and they couldn’t all have the same favorite.
Now, you can shop without the children and get in a little parent time.
HIP Studios offers a Parents Night Out program for your little ones. They can play, watch a movie, do crafts and have a snack, while you get your shopping done. During the month of December they are offering the program every Saturday until Christmas, from 5:30 til 12:00 midnight. Their regular Parents Night is the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month.

The sign is out and the store seems to be adding merchandise, but no word yet when the grand opening of Tuesday Morning will be. If you have never been, Tuesday Morning is a great place to shop for famous maker items for the home at close out prices. There’s always a treasure to find!
Update: The grand opening of Tuesday Morning is November 6th from 7-9 a.m.
They are also open on Wednesday Morning, Thursday Morning and every other morning. Check out info and store hours at their website.

The old fashioned butcher shop has become extinct, except here. When you want the freshest meat possible in Hendricks County, Moody Meats in Avon is your local meat market.
They’ll even tell you the best way to cook your choice of meats and provide recipes. Check to see if you’re in their delivery area for home delivery.
Moody Meats is located at 235 SR 267, just north of US 36.

I am quite fond of an afternoon coffee with an occasional treat. It’s the little break I enjoy some days. One of my favorite coffee stops is Beanzies Gourmet Coffee in Avon. It reminds me of a modern day Cheers; friendly, relaxing and they even remember your name. No Alcohol, though!
When you stop by, tell Alice and Jason, Paula from ReMax sent you.
They’ll treat you like family, even if you don’t mention my name.
Beanzies is located off SR 267, just north of CR 100.
A fabulous place to stop for breakfast or lunch. Alice makes home made biscuits and gravy and cinnamon rolls.
Relax in the fireside room for a truly refreshing break.

The most beautiful land in Avon is in the area known as Parks at Prestwick. Built on a nature preserve with wooded lots and trails, the homes here also represent the handiwork of some of the areas finest builders.
